Kumoi, incensed about the attack, sends all of his assassins against the attacking Soul Reapers. Rukia and Shū find Kumoi, who is using Lurichiyo as a hostage, and reveals that he sought to take control of the nobility of the Soul Society. Amagai arrives, kills Kumoi, and teleports to Yamamoto's location with Lurichiyo.
