Franz suspects the Count's involvement in the poisonings, but Albert is steadfast. Crown Prosecutor Villefort, however, has already discovered that his wife Héloïse is the culprit. Meanwhile, Baron Danglars decides to break off Eugénie's engagement to Albert.
