The next morning, Waver is healed but still unconscious. Gray tells Olga-Marie about Hephaestion and Olga-Marie surmises that whoever stole Iskandar's Mantle used it as a catalyst to summon her, and that her master may be on the train. Suddenly, the train is forcibly diverted and stranded in the Child of Einnashe, a snowy forest that was once the reality marble of a Dead Apostle, making it hostile to humans. Olga-Marie decides to barricade herself in her own room, still not fully trusting Gray and Caules.
