This episode is a parody of fantasy/medieval RPGs, specifically Dragon's Lair; the game in this episode takes place in a dungeon with the main characters taking on the characteristics of various classes of fighters. Lines such as Dot's "It breathes fire ... it just had to breathe fire!" poke fun at the overly-elaborate nature of many enemies and situations encountered in fantasy RPGs. The test pattern Mike the TV generates at the end of the episode is a reference to the BBC's Test Card F.
