Upon coming home from harvesting daikon radishes from the snow ridden fields. Howan receives a letter of notification that she’s passed the first round of the auditions for the next generation of singers contest. Howan announces the news to her family who are elated by the fact. Her mother especially, who gossips to someone about it on the phone. The following day, Howan takes a train to Midi City.
