Hikaru grows distant and admits to Asako that the real Hikaru is dead, leaving her in tears as he guiltily imagines the funeral and closure he denied others. Tanaka dismisses Nonuki and the Indo ritual as meaningless, while Hikaru and Yoshiki visit the beach from Yoshiki’s memories, where a float for Kaoru is lost at sea. Hikaru announces his plan to return to the mountain and confesses a deep, undefinable love for Yoshiki, sparking a fight in which Yoshiki admits he too feels like a monster. They reconcile, accept who they are without pretending to be normal, and as they watch the sunset, Tanaka quietly returns Kaoru’s float.
