Starting the Reapers' Game anew, Neku is forced to form a pact with a mysterious boy named Joshua Kiryu. Unlike the other Players, Neku finds he can scan Joshua, showing him glimpses of the memories he had lost. The pair soon meet the new Game Master, Sho Minamimoto, who starts turning the other players against each other. The next day, as the resurgence of his memories leads Neku to become warier of Joshua, the pair face off against a new powerful form of Noise known as Taboo Noise coming from Minamimoto's art pieces...
